Month in Review: July

Chicago's Calling
On July 13, it was reported that Kirk Hinrich would be re-signing with the Chicago Bulls. Turner Sports's David Aldridge was first to break the news.
At Pau Gasol's introductory press conference, head coach Tom Thibodeau shared his thoughts on Kirk's re-signing, despite the fact it had yet to become official:

It wasn't until July 21 that the Bulls officially announced their 2003 draft pick's re-signing.
“Kirk has always been a big part of creating the professional culture we want day in, day out surrounding our club,” said Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman.  “He helps our team in so many ways and Kirk had other opportunities elsewhere, but we are very happy he chose to remain in a Bulls uniform.”
One of those other opportunities was joining the Charlotte Hornets.

A Fellow Iowan
Bulls rookie Doug McDermott spent a large amount of July in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League, but he still had some time to speak highly of his new teammate:
"I got a fellow Iowa boy to look up to in Kirk. He's a great veteran who will help me."

At the end of June, Kirk participated in the inaugural Siouxland Hy-Vee Golf Tournament. The tournament was held with the purpose of raising money for Camp High Hopes, which ended up being $28,500.

Camp High Hopes CEO Ali Langseth spoke graciously of not only Kirk's involvement, but all of those involved with helping the program:
“We are so thankful to the Siouxland Hy-Vee Stores for organizing and hosting such a fun and successful event, Kirk Hinrich and his family for their genuine character and sincere support of our Camp’s mission, the golfers, sponsors, and all those that supported our mission with their participation and generosity in the silent and live auction.  Without government assistance or any formal sponsorship, the Camp relies on the support of 3rd party fundraisers such as the Siouxland Hy-Vee Golf Tournament in order to be able to provide quality programs to individuals with disabilities.”
